Fishing
Fishing
is special at the Powderhorn Ranch. You can fly fish
for Rainbow, German Brown and Brook trout just steps
from your cabin door in the sparkling Cebolla.
For an additional fee, you can schedule a private
or semi-private fly-fishing adventure at
the Ranch. You can choose to travel to the
secluded beaver ponds of the East or Middle
Fork, the hidden waters of the West Spur,
the National Forest beaver ponds on Slumgullion
Pass or the Cochetope, or up to 36 miles
of private water only accessible to our Ranch
Guests!
These
waters abound with wild mountain ‘brookies’ (Brook
Trout) in the Primitive Wilderness, National Forests,
or on secluded private holdings.
You can also choose to fish Hidden Lake, just ten
minutes from your cabin. We also maintain
a special stocked pond for beginners or kids
just behind the Ross Lodge.
Colorado Fishing licenses are for sale in the Ranch
Office.
Remember, we have a mile of the Cebolla running through
the property and private access to premier trout water
in the most beautiful areas of southwest Colorado.
The
legendary Cebolla is arguably Colorado’s finest
dry-fly small water stream and holds wild German Brown trout,
Rainbows, Cutthroats and Brook Trout - some up to 20 inches
in length!
The
fantastic fly-fishing on the Powderhorn Ranch has been
chronicled by famous fly angler Flip Pallot, and featured
on his ESPN2 show, Walker's
Cay Chronicles in 2003.
