our guests arriving by private or rental vehicles;
The
Powderhorn Guest Ranch is located about 5 hours from Denver,
4 hours from Colorado Springs and 3 hours from Grand Junction.
The
Powderhorn offers a 'Fuel Friendly' vacation. Once you are
at the Ranch you won't find it necessary to drive anywhere
else to be entertained!
If
you decide to drive to the Ranch, stop and buy plenty of film
- be prepared for some of the most breathtaking, photo-friendly
views in Colorado!
Be
sure to check Colorado pass and interstate closures prior
to your trip. Make sure your brakes are in good shape! The
Colorado Department of Transportation can be reached for road
conditions at 1-303-639-1234.

The
Powderhorn Guest Ranch is located 36 miles south of Gunnison,
halfway between Gunnison and historic Lake City.
For
our guests arriving by plane or train;
Gunnison
County Airport is a year-round airport, which serves major
national carriers with runways and facilities for private
planes and commercial jets. The Gunnison County Airport can
easily be reached with connecting flights from Denver International
Airport.
The
Powderhorn Guest Ranch offers airport pickup and drop
off in Gunnison for only $20 per person, each way.
 We
offer Travel Arrangements through qualified professionals
locally, nationwide and overseas.
Amtrak
also has connections to Glenwood Springs, which is about 3
½ hours from our Ranch. Exploring the west by train can be
a unique beginning to our Ranch experience!
One
travel tip - go easy on your first day at altitude. No drugs,
alcohol, sleeping pills, or narcotics. Drink more water. Try
Vitamin C and Vitamin E to help you acclimate. Some visitors
to Colorado can experience altitude sickness if they push
too hard at the beginning. It is important to remember that
millions of visitors yearly never even feel the effects.
